Mohamud M. Hassan

Co-founder and Board Member


Mohamud M. Hassan is an academic with interest in ICT for Agriculture, Open access for agriculture and education data. He is a local organizer for Open Knowledge community in Somalia. Besides, He is an advisor to Somali Youth Civic Education (SYCO) a youth platform that campaigns for Federalism & citizen participation in peacebuilding, create livelihood and capacity building programs for youth. He has extensive knowledge in creating and managing content. He trains farmers and office staff for a productive work environment. Mohamud has graduated with Master of Computer Science in Web Technology at UTHM, Malaysia. Moreover, Harbi currently the rector of Zamzam University of science and Technology

Husein Osman Abdullahi

Co-founder and Director, Open Knowledge Somalia


Hussein Osman Abdullahi is currently the registrar and Senior Lecturer at SIMAD University. He is also the Director of Open Knowledge Somalia. He holds a BSc. in Information Technology from the SIMAD University and Master of Science in Information Technology from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is an experienced leader with a passion for empowering individuals and communities through access to information communication and technology and over the years, he has taught various courses in the field of ICT. He was Strategic Officer of Open knowledge Somalia. He was the Regional Coordinator of Web 2.0 and Social Media workshops, certified by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) in the Netherlands. Husein also served as the Managing Director of Adeege Technology Solutions, where he played a pivotal role in driving technological advancements and solutions. He is interested in ICT for agriculture, open data, and open access for education.

Abdifarah Farah Ali

Strategic officer


Abdifatah Farah Ali is currently a Lecturer in the faculty of Computing at SIMAD where has been since 2010. He has teaching experience in field of Computer science and Information at undergraduate level. He is also Director of Information Communication Technology. From 2012-2014, he worked as Head of Department of Software at SIMAD. Mr. Farah is co-founder and managing director of Adeege Technologies Solutions. He received a Bachelor of Information Technology from SIMAD University in 2010 and Master of Computer Science from University Putra Malaysia in 2016. His current research focus on Machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science. He is also member of Open Knowledge Somalia chapter.

Abdullahi Guled Ibrahim

Cybersecurity Expert


Abdullahi is an ICT professional and has a bachelor’s degree in information technology from Malaysia and he has worked with different institutions in the education sector, public, private sector and NGOs. Currently, he is an ICT consultant at Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and Technology and lecturer at Horn of Africa University. He teaches mobile computing and advanced networking. Abdullahi is also a member of Somali Network Operator group which is a forum for Somali networking professionals. He is also an advocate of open knowledge and data as a tool to measure progress and show transparency

Abdikarim Abi Hassan

Artificial Intelligence Expert

Eng. Abdikarim Abi Hassan is a Senior Lecturer at SIMAD University's Faculty of Engineering, specializing in Artificial Intelligence. Since 2010, he has contributed significantly to the university's academic community. Mr. Hassan is a dedicated member of Open Knowledge Somalia and serves as the CTO of Adeege Technology Company, where his expertise drives technological innovation. He is a leading figure in AI research and education in Somalia, inspiring future innovators and entrepreneurs. He is also the Managing Director, of Alif Teaching and Learning Innovation Hub.

Omar Ali

Biodiversity Specialist

Omar Ali is a lecturer and Sustainability and Biodiversity specialist at Zamzam University of Science and Technology. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Benguet State University in the Philippines and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. He has previously presented a lecture on “Harnessing Data in Biodiversity Conservation”. With expertise in natural resources and biodiversity, he offers a fresh perspective on integrating data in this innovative era. He is also the active member of Open knowledge Somalia.
