Strategies and Tools for Research and Data Management Workshop
Open Knowledge Somalia recently organized a training workshop for university students on “Strategies and Tools for Research and Data Management” on November 9, 2023. The workshop covered different topics, such as understanding how to do research, managing research data, basic ways to search for information, using tools like Mendeley and EndNote for citations, dealing with open data, and learning methods for collecting data.
This training workshop was facilitated by Husein Osman Abdullahi, ICT expert, Director of Open knowledge Somalia and SIMAD University Registrar. The event was hosted by SIMAD University.
Participants acquired useful knowledge and skills in searching for information across various online databases during the workshop. Additionally, they benefited from learning how to effectively use citation and referencing tools like Mendeley and EndNote. Furthermore, the students learned about open data, data management platforms, and methods for collecting data. In a nutshell, it was a valuable experience for students to learn more about information retrieval, citation practices, data management, and the significance of open data to academic success.
The training workshops were an outstanding achievement, and on behalf of the OKsomalia team, we would like to thank all the participants and trainer for their contributions to the workshops. Additionally, we would like to express our appreciation to SIMAD University, specifically the engineering faculty, for hosting this event.
